Ecosystem Restoration

eco restoration

Our restoration approach blends science, local ecology, and traditional knowledge to revive degraded forests, soils, and water systems. We promote Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR), remove invasive alien species, and implement soil and moisture conservation measures to restore ecological balance. We do not believe in monoculture plantations – true restoration rebuilds entire landscapes. By prioritizing native species that are ecologically and culturally significant, we create systems where biodiversity thrives, carbon is naturally stored, and communities regain access to healthy ecosystems that support food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience.

Livelihood Diversification

We support communities in building sustainable, nature-aligned livelihoods that reduce pressure on ecosystems. Our work promotes natural farming, forest-based enterprises, and responsible harvesting of non-timber forest products (NTFPs). By strengthening value chains, improving product quality, and connecting producers to fair markets, we help create dignified income opportunities. These livelihood systems are rooted in ecological balance, enhancing resilience to climate risks while ensuring that economic development goes hand-in-hand with environmental stewardship.

Strengthening Local Institutions

strengthining local institutions

We empower village-level institutions such as Village Environment and Biodiversity Committees, women’s self-help groups, and community-based organizations to lead restoration efforts. By strengthening governance systems, building leadership, and encouraging collective decision-making, we enable communities to manage their natural resources effectively. Strong local institutions ensure continuity, uphold traditional knowledge, and build long-term resilience. When communities become custodians of their landscapes, restoration becomes sustainable and self-driven.

Biodiversity Conservation

Our work focuses on protecting and enhancing biodiversity by restoring habitats and conserving native species. We undertake species mapping, support community-led monitoring, and help establish biodiversity corridors that enable ecological connectivity. We also promote coexistence strategies to reduce human-wildlife conflict. By strengthening biodiversity, we enhance ecosystem resilience, stabilize natural processes, and preserve traditional ecological knowledge that has sustained communities for generations.

Agroforestry & Agroecology

agroforestry

Agroforestry sits at the intersection of restoration and livelihoods. We promote tree-based farming systems that integrate native species, fruit trees, medicinal plants, and crops in ecologically compatible ways. These systems improve soil fertility, enhance water retention, and reduce climate risks while diversifying farmer incomes. By combining traditional wisdom with scientific design, we enable farmers to transition toward regenerative practices that restore land productivity and strengthen long-term resilience.

Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Action

We implement nature-based solutions that address climate change while strengthening ecosystems and livelihoods. Our work includes carbon-sequestering interventions such as ecosystem restoration, regenerative agriculture, and biochar production. Biochar not only stores carbon long-term but also improves soil health and agricultural productivity. By integrating climate action with community needs, we create scalable solutions that reduce emissions, enhance resilience, and unlock climate finance opportunities rooted in real, on-ground impact.
